Appearance: Standing at a fairly average height, Deidara is 5'6" (167.5 centimeters), weighs roughly 130 pounds (about 59 kilograms) and appears to be slightly younger than he is. Part of this may be his long eyelashes, his round face, the smirk he often wears, or maybe it's his long, thick, yellow bangs that are always hanging in front of his bandaged left eye, and end only a few inches below his jaw-line, where the rest of his hair is longer and reaches past his middle back. Well, whatever it is, as soon as someone takes a good look into his sky blue eyes, or rather, eye, they can tell he isn't as naïve as he may look.
Deidara wears a loose black t-shirt with sleeves midway down his forearms, dark blue jeans, sneakers, and a black backpack; something you would expect from someone his age and in his line of work. However, a white bandage that wraps around his head and lies under his hair covers his left eye, which he claims he lost in an acid-related accident. Though, in all reality, under the bandage, his left eye is just finishing healing because of a surgery he got. His skin is tan from spending long hours outside, and his hands look like they're permanently stained a brownish-red shade from the iodine used to make ammonium triiodide crystals, a type of explosive. This almost covers the scar across the center of each palm he received as reminders of what happens when the job doesn't get done. Those two scars, as well as one across his chest, mirror the placement of the Original Universe Deidara's hand and chest mouths.

Personality: While he may be overconfident to the point of endangering his own wellbeing, he's always respectful to others whom he considers artists. Even if their 'art' is a completely different style or medium than his own, Deidara will hold them in high regard for the simple reason that he loves art. But even when he's not in another artist's presence, most of the time he's good-natured, if not a little selfish. He may act like he trusts others easily, but it's the exact opposite. It may take Deidara months or years to fully trust anyone, something that was fueled further by joining the Akatsuki.
When in a dangerous situation, he's definitely not the hero type; he'll save his own skin before even making an attempt to help another. There is, of course, one sort of person that Deidara would never talk to, if given the chance. Someone overly carefree and who tried too hard. Those were the kinds of people that Deidara wouldn't mind blowing up four or five times.

Abilities/Strengths: Since Deidara worked with explosives for about 10 years, not only did he memorize the materials needed to create many of his explosives, he figured out how to make them most effective. He can place any explosive in just the right spot to make a reinforced wall come down within seconds, or toss it in the air right before it'll go off so it affects the most space.
His left eye is much more perceptive than his right eye, as it has both undergone training and surgery to reach it. It can view through illusions because of that, but so far, Deidara hasn't used it in battle. It was only briefly tested it out to see if it actually worked.
The last thing that could be considered an advantage; he can mentally block large amounts of pain before reacting.

Weaknesses: As mentioned earlier, it's not uncommon for Deidara to both overestimate his power and techniques, but he also underestimates his opponents. This overconfidence often leads to close calls over various limbs, including arms and legs. And, as he couldn't get much worse at close combat, he needs those appendages.
Unfortunately for him, but to the amusement of others, he also has another weakness: his depth perception. Because of the bandages that cover his left eye, Deidara's sense of distance is slightly impaired. He can't tell exactly how close things are, like someone with use of both their eyes, but he makes fairly accurate guesstimates, until he's fatigued. Then, his judgment of distance becomes entirely off, often resulting in his frequent walking into different objects.

Notable Possessions: He keeps a large, black backpack with him at almost all times. It's has about half a dozen (faulty-they only smoke and don’t blow up) C-4 explosives, a folding knife and his (almost empty) wallet which holds his Akatsuki badge inside of it. The badge is about 2x3 inches, is white, a quarter of it is filled with binary code and there is a small red cloud with the Japanese kanji for blue-green inside of it in the bottom left corner. Its sole purpose is to identify him as a much-needed Akatsuki.

C3, C4..

History: Deidara was raised in Tsuchi no Kuni's (Earth Country's) capital, Iwagakure. At that point in time, Tsuchi no Kuni was a technologically advanced nation that was growing increasingly hostile to other countries around it, so it was no surprise when he started learning how to use various ballistics at the young age of seven. Hailed as a prodigy, many people around him encouraged for him to continue in his "studies." Soon, he had perfected the use of quite a few of his bombs, but he didn't think that was enough. Deidara wanted them to be different from all the other mass-produced explosives, which is when he turned to making and using mainly C-4, a malleable and moldable explosive.
He would reach fifteen years old before deciding to leave Iwagakure all together and wander the continent, developing new ways to make his C-4 explosives even more artistic and finally perfect his technique of using molded and chemical-enhanced ballistics. He would also bomb as a terrorist for hire. That was when Deidara caught the attention of a group called the Akatsuki. They were made up of eight sociopaths, many of whom were well-known criminals.
He was requested to join Akatsuki by Uchiha Itachi, Hoshigaki Kisame, and Akasuna no Sasori, but rejected their offer. He was challenged by them under the condition that if he lost he had to join, but if he won, he could do as he pleased. Upon loosing, he was forced to join, though unhappily. That was when he became partners with Akasuna no Sasori, whom he considered another artist. Soon after his left eye underwent surgery and he began training it to be able to see through illusions, something that he needed to be able to do in order to defeat Uchiha Itachi, a man he considered his rival. After a mission, he had run out of C-4 explosives, and was about to place more into his bag when he was transferred to Econtra.
